Copperfields on Urbanspoon

On Friday night Kim and I wanted to go somewhere that we hadn't been in a while. We wanted to go for a drive to the local mountain.We live in an amazing area, 30minutes to the beach and 30 minutes the other way to the mountain.  It was a cold wet night, The restaurant was doing Christmas in July so the place had all decorations around.

 It is quite inviting as you walk in and the waiters are friendly. We sat down in the back corner so it was quiet.

I got my beer and Kim had her cider

Kim has realised that she likes wheaty, hoppy beer so she liked my Hefeweizen, I like them because they taste like bubblegum.

I had the Asian Pork Belly, it was pork belly marinated in garlic and ginger. It had a broth with black beans.  It was sweet, sour but a slight chili taste after. It was amazing.

Kim had the twice cooked pork belly, with spicy lentils and crackling. It just melted in your mouth. The crackling was so crunchy and perfect. Maybe that's why it took just under an hr to get our meal?
other than that it was amazing.
After dinner we really wanted desert so we got the Honeycomb and Frangelico Semi Fredo.
I thought what the heck is that, it is a milk chocolate ganache (the stuff in macaroons).

We love desert, and it was really good. its just works so well together. It is one of those restaurants that can can go for a romantic meal.

Even with the wait for the meal it was still a lovely night and we will be back.

Nuts Chan

 Kim really likes this Japanese place. We have been going here for nearly 10 years. Its a small family owned restaurant. It hasn't been updated in a long time. The family is nice and friendly. The food is fresh and tasty.

For Entree's we had Takoyaki. Takoyaki is a wheat batter with octopus in it. Its sweet and kind of juicy

We get this or Nasu Denggaku and that is deep fried eggplant with miso paste. Which we always enjoy.
For our mains I had the Niku-udon and its beef with udon noodles. Normally i get the Bento box which is really great but i thought i would try something different. It was alright. It was a big serving of soup and noodles. The noodles are always cooked perfectly, they never disintegrate and that's always a good thing. 

Kim had the Tempura- Udon, it is Noodle soup with vegetable tempura. She seemed to enjoy it a lot. Normally she gets the Nabeyaki-udon, but she was not that hungry.

We always like supporting the local small businesses. So we will always be back sooner or later.

The Grand Tofu

We have been coming here on and off for about 7 years. (well the old restaurant) It is nice and clean. quiet small. The staff are not really friendly but the food is good. But then it is cheap so you can't really complain. The menu's had been used a few times, not sure when they had been changed. The food is all very simple.
For dinner I had the "homemade noodle fish ball soup",  after adding some fresh chilli and a bit of soy it was tasty. It just needed a little bit of something for some more flavours.

I love it when the fish balls explode when you eat them. Their was a lot of them as well. Some places just give you one or two. The tofu was fresh and fell apart when you ate it.

Kim had the vegetarian spinach dumpling soup

It had a lot of different types of vegetables. Also needed some chilli...Maybe we just like chilli

It was a cheap meal and filling. Perfect for a cold night like last night.

On Thursday night for dinner we decided to go for Japanese. Not many places have a 3 course meal or Soup, Entree main and a drink for $16 so to me thats a BARGAIN. The food is always amazing and filling.

For starters 
I had Miso Soup, it is always so fresh and perfect to start a meal.

The Agedashi Tofu was sweet yet satisfying, they have the biggest piece of tofu.

My Greet Tea Smoothie arrived  and it is big and heavy. It is so creamy and doesn't taste like a dodgy flavour

For mains I had Chicken Katsu Curry. Its not spicy just a slight flavour of curry but the flavours work. Nothing is over empowering.

Kim shared my miso soup and had the mixed tempura.  She can't finish the whole thing as it is massive.
Our friends had the vegetable gyoza. It looked great, next time i will get it

Nobu Hollywood

 In February we did a month long trip, we had some amazing food and some terrible food. That can happen in any country. Kim loves fine dining, usually there is not enough food for me. In this instance I had plenty of food. We had been to the Nobu Crown Casino in Melbourne and we thought that was really good. Nobu West Hollywood really out did themselves. It was absolutely  amazing


We both had cocktails to start, Kim had a elderflower cocktail (If any one can correct me let me know lol) , I had a Yamazaki Sidecar.

The restaurant was beautifully lit. It was so clean. In Melbourne its suit dress code but in Hollywood people wore jeans and t-shirts and that was a bit strange to us.

For Starters we had crab sushi.

 We had an assortment of food, Lobster, Crab, Eel, Wagyu Beef, Tuna I wish i had taken notes. I looked at the menu to try and jog my memory but it has changed. It was still worth it

One day we will hopefully go back.

I really will have to do a blog with actual holiday pictures.
