Korean Dinner

After a crap day at work, and some dick rear ending Kim, we decided to go to our favorite Korean restaurant, its a small place but the food is fresh and filling.

When we arrived it had a few people, by the time we started eating it was quiet,

With Korean food you generally get all you can eat Kimchi, honey potatoes, brocoli and other random bits and pieces.

The drinks are so small you need at least 2 ;). I had my corona, the ladies had pear drink with pear pieces in it.

Spicy rice cakes, its a sweet yet spicy dish with sweet potato noodles in it.

Beef So Bulgogi which is sizzling plate with beef and veggies marinated in soy sauce. Not really spicy but sweet and full of flavour.

Beef Dolsot Bibimbap, its beef served in a hot stone pot.  we leave it so the rice gets crispy at the bottom of the pot. You mix a bowl of chilli into it to add some spice. Its an amazing dish.
So much food we have some left for lunch except we are going to brunch with friends.

I would highly reccomend  this place for a cheap yet satisfying meal.
Kind regards
Dale

Fukuryu Ramen & Project 219 Underground

Fukuryu Ramen on UrbanspoonFukuryu Ramen & Project 219 Underground

On Sunday we went to dinner with some friends who we haven't seen in a while, the restaurant is a smallish Japanese ramen (noodle) place called Fukuryu Ramen. The people are really friendly and the food is amazingly cheap and filling. We have been going there since it opened up about 2 months ago, we go enough that the manager recognises us which is a nice thing.
For starters we had the Edamame
I had the new Spicy Red Dragon Ramen. I can eat hot things and I found this had a bite, it was nice to have Japanese food that was hot.
Kim had the Signature Tonkatsu Ramen, its not spicy but it is really tasty

Here are some older pictures

If you are in the city it is worth a try.

After a lot of food we went for a lovely walk and found a random bar called Project 219,
It was really quiet but it was a Sunday night

We had a couple of drinks sat around and chatted. It was a lovely way to catch up and chill out. We will have to do it again soon

Kind regards

Richmond hill Lader + Whisky Rack

Richmond hill Larder + Whisky Rack

It has been very quiet at work recently, so the company I work at  allows me to do what I want when its quiet. I decided to make a whisky rack for my friend as he got me into whisky.

I had to bring my drop saw from home, I realised I shared photo's on snapchat so I don't have them saved .
First you get a pallet. then you work out how long you want it to be I made it 60cms long and 50cms high. Cut and nail...that simple

Then I spent two days chroming at work because stain stinks really bad.

I was happy with how it turned out, so I gave it to him yesterday for his birthday.

For Lunch we went to Richmond Hill Larder on Bride road. The coffee was pretty average but the food was good.

Angus Beef Burger
Bagel with bacon and egg

Eggs, mushrooms, beans and toast
Vegetarian risotto

We stopped at purvis beer on the way home and bought a range of Ale's, Stouts.
Our friend wanted the Rodenbach 2011 Vintage beer.

The flavours were amazing, sweet yet bitter. You could taste cherries, vinegar and a little bit of chocolate. It is meant to be drunk warm which I have never done. Its worth a try for something different.

It has been a lovely weekend, pretty chilled but pleasant.
Have a lovely day

A busy saturday & Sushi burger

A busy Saturday & sushi burger
Kim has always wanted a hario range server for her pour overs , so we finally decided to get her one. The cheapest one was in the city. I am quite tight and won't pay for parking. I know a sweet spot but it is a 2km walk but I save $10... I know right..pretty cheap.

It was a beautiful day 21 degrees not too hot and not too cold.

For lunch we decided to go to Sushi Burger as we have not been in months, they stopped doing dinner. It was the perfect opportunity to have it.

So like any Bento box, you get your miso soup

We both got Green Tea Ice Cream Smoothies, it was more like a milkshake but still yum.

I had the Tonkatsu pork with a Chicken and Avocado Sushi Burger

Kim had the Veggie Gyoza with the Kani Croquette

It was a filling meal, I still can't help so i got the Green Tea Daifuku

Daifuku is a Japanese desert with a chewy outside and ice cream in the middle.
After lunch we went for a walk to let lunch settle so we could get a coffee.
The place we went to was Manchester press, i was under the impression you get Latte Art.
I did get a good coffee, Kim got a good hot chocolate.

Pretty but not spectacular.

But a pretty cool Cafe'

Because we had a lot for lunch we were not that hungry so we got cake for dinner

I got a Choc Banana Marshmallow  cake,

Kim got a  Mille-feuille , which is a custard based french desert and we got almond biscuit each.

The glass kim got for her coffee and the right is the Syphon my friend lent me. When i am happy with how i use it i will do a blog. So in the next few weeks.
Saturday has been crazy busy... 10:30pm time to get some sleep.
Have a lovely weekend
