Uber Services

Uber Services

I woke up yesterday morning and my right nostril was  bleeding, being male I continued my day with my bleeding nose by building Lego and playing  Xbox. Kim got home and asked about it I said it's fine nothing to worry about. She spoke to her mother who is a nurse and said I needed to go to Emergency. We finished our dinner and off we went. We arrived at 8:45pm and it was packed so we sat around. I sent Kim home at about 12am.

1am they put me in a room and I sat for about 40 minutes waiting for a bed. I got a bed and had an amazing hour sleep, they woke me up and checked me out and the bleeding had stopped so they could not do much more so they sent me home. I spent ages calling Kim but she was fast asleep. I was going to catch a taxi but remembered Kim had my wallet so I had no money at all. I had an actual moment where my brain works and I remembered that you can pay with PayPal for Uber. I downloaded the app, signed up and ordered a driver. It took about 5 minutes including installing the app and  for him to turn up. His car was clean and he was friendly, in that 20 minute drive I felt like we had known each other for ages. My first uber experience was amazing. Out of every negative is a positive and that was it. I also found a coupon so my ride was free.
Have you used Uber?

Five Days After Operation

Five Days After Operation

It has been a hard few days since my operation, but this is how my week has been so far. Sunday night i had to fast so i ate as much as i could until 12am and tried to sleep as much as i could. We left here at 10am and got to the hospital at 10:45am to do paperwork. You have 3 options with Healthcare here
(a) Public Health so you pay nothing and usually get the registra being supervised by the Doctor
(b) Private Health so the government pays for nothing and you pay for everything.
(c) Private in a public health. You get most of the perks of being private and don't pay for anything

After i did my paperwork and got dressed in my gown I sat in bed and waited for the operation.  At about 12;30pm they took me into the operating theatre and did the surgery.  They woke me up at about 4pm and i waited in recovery for about an hour then I was moved up to the ward. Kim came around and so did some other friends and i was really excited to see them. I sucked on ice and drank cold water. Tuesday morning i tried to eat fruit pieces but it's really hard when you can't swallow. I managed to eat a soggy wheatbix and ice cream or yoghurt. Still not sleeping much either sleep for 2 hours then stay awake long enough to have drugs then fall asleep again for 2 hours. Wednesday was slightly better eating more but caughing up gross stuff which makes your throat hurt more so its harder to eat. It's currently 3:45am and I am waiting for my next med session so I can try to sleep some more. I can breath better with my mouth so it makes me feel slightly happier. I will be really happy when they remove the splint in my nose.

New Year, New Nose

New Year, New Nose
On Monday I will have the surgery, I have been on the waiting list for over a year to get some surgery done to my nose, I suffer from sleep apnea and if you don't know what that means is I basically stop breathing while sleeping. I had always had it and don't remember the last time I went to bed and felt like I actually slept for more than 5 hours straight. I did the sleep apnea test in 2012 but my doctor refused to send me as a public patient.

Someone I met since then is a Doctor so he organized me to go see the right people and after numerous tests I am finally going under the knife. So what I am getting done is a Septoplasty to straighten out my deviated septum (the bit in my nose is not straight). Then I will get a Bilateral Turbinoplasty which is where they remove some of the bones in between your nose and throat  to make it easier to breath. Lastly I will get a UPPP ( basically remove skin in the throat). Hopefully I will sleep better than drink less coffee.. We will have to wait and see. But I will get a week off work so I am happy about that.
Do you know anyone that has had this done?

Random Photos

Random Photos

Over the Christmas break we did a few random things and I took a bunch of photos, I have finally finished editing them.

We had Kim's Christmas party at the Melbourne Aquarium and it was drinks and canapés. We had to pay for me and I was disappointed. It was amazing having all the fish around for a party. It was so dark and I struggled to get many great photos but this is my favourite one.

I have always wanted to do a Shitmas party and we finally got around to doing it. You know when you have Christmas and someone always gets something and they go but why??? This was the whole purpose of this party. Each person brought a gift to the value of $12 ($12 for 12 days of Christmas).

Everyone put the presents on the Shitmas tree, then we pulled out a number from Viking hat.

We opened the gifts from the highest number to the lowest number.
Gifts included a jar of Nutella with a random name on it, bar of bacon soap, kite, bad taxidermy book, random lantern. For dinner we cooked beer butt chicken.

First take some cans of beer and you get to drink half. We had a pale ale, lager, stout and a ginger beer. Shove it in the chickens butt. Put some olive oil mixed with garlic and herbs on the outside

You put it in the b.b.q for about an hour at 130 degrees. We had potato's wrapped in foil with some oil, garlic and some with curry powder in as well. The chicken is so moist and tender.

Its now the only way I will cook a chicken as its fun and easy to do.

We went to Fairhaven to go body boarding, the waves were just perfect so we spent the most of the day there. It was so quiet and for a 43 degree day it was fabulous but I did get a bit sunburnt.

Just a couple of pics, have you ever cooked a chicken like that?

New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions

We all have resolutions and for whatever reasons whether it be for health, financial, or the heck of it kind of reasons. Like i have taken up cycling on our exercise bike and that's to loose weight and improve my breathing. We have now been in our house for 1.5 years and we hate the pantry as it was built badly and just annoying so part of our New Year Resolution was to fix it. For Christmas my parents gave us money as a present and we thought what better way to use the money.

So Saturday night I decided to do it and to have a good start to the resolutions. The pantry had three large, deep shelves so you did not know what was at the back and they had tiny shelves underneath so you could not see what was on it.  I thought demolition would take an hour or two hours max. I was wrong as whoever installed it glued it and went crazy with nails. It took about 5 hours of blood, sweat and swearing to remove it.  We finished removing it Sunday morning.

We had to patch up some of my new accidental holes then paint it. Yet again I thought would take a few hours to put together but I then found out the screws it suggested to use did not work so we had to go back to Bunnings and this was about our 4 trip (and many more to go). We finally had the shelves in late Monday night and then restocked it on Wednesday as Tuesday night we had plans.

We still need to do some basic rearranging but we are so much happier with the new panty.
Are you lucky like me and every time you do a reno something goes wrong too or it doesn't "fit" like it should?

Thanks for reading.
