Filter Beans from India & Syphon Recipe

Filter Beans from India 7 Syphon Recipe

I went to Cote Terra on Sunday to have some coffee with friends. While there I bumped into Tess from Tesspresso and she said Joel had roasted some beans from India. Most people have said Indian coffee beans are terrible but you can get terrible beans from anywhere. If you get the best beans youcan make magic happen and these beans are magical. I don't normally make coffee syphons but these beans deserve the best.
The Recipe I used.
16 grams coffee
250 Mls at 94 degrees.

I poured the coffee into the top section and stirred 4 times and at 50seconds i turned off the heat.

Normally i can get some flavours but this was unique,  like earthy tones, sharp flavours but i don't know how to describe it but just awesome.  I also made some pour overs.

I still love making filter coffee's as the flavour can vary so much with each brew.

Workshop Brothers

Workshop brothers

It's 4:30am and while  i supervise Iris as she decides what piece of technology i have to confiscate from her instead of playing with the 15 toys she has lying around i will try to do another Blog. Glen Waverley has really upped its game in the last year with a couple of Cafe's that do brunch and that do them well. You used to go to Glen Waverley for cheap asian meals and for a long time there was no good coffee but maybe thats how Gloria Jeans has survived. I'm not saying Gloria Jeans is great but it was really the only one around.

I have been to the other Workshop cafe's a few times and the coffee was awesome, this cafe' does not disappoint either as they do a range of coffees including the filter coffee. They make sweet espresso's, fruity filters and exceptional latte's. I had the chilli chicken waffle and it was not too spicy but the waffle was crispy on the outside and light on the inside. It was an awesome meal and we will go back.

Its worth a visit.

Strange Sightings

Strange Sightings

A few weeks ago i had the weirdest experience and i don't know if it was my imagination or lack of sleep. Iris has not been sleeping so well because of teething and general colds and flu's. One night i heard her crying so i went into her room. I thought i saw her sitting in the corner of the cot with her head in between her knees crying. She was wearing a white night dress, as i got closer she looked a lot bigger maybe 3 - 4 years old. I stood there and looked at her for about a minute then I rubbed my eyes and there was no one in the corner. Iris was sound asleep under the blanket.
Have you ever had a strange sighting?

Little Ramen Bar

Little Ramen Bar

In the last few weeks we have been to a few new places but it so hard to find time to do a blog. While i have a moment i will try to finish it quickly.

Little Ramen reminds me of Japan, you order outside the restaurant then you sit down and within about 10 minutes the food arrives. Its a cosy little place. I ordered the Garlic Shio Ramen  and it was the best Ramen we have had in ages, the eggs were perfectly cooked, hard on the outside and runny on the inside. The pork was thin and not much fat. It really reminded me of Japan with the flavours. The Gyoza had a crispy but very thin skin and the fried pork and vegetables are a perfect blend together. Its definitely worth a trip to it.

Thanks for looking

Parenting

Parenting

Over the last 10 months I have learned a lot about myself and our relationship, Kim and I have been together for over 10 years which is crazy and before Iris life is more simple. You want to go on holiday, you research, book it and go. ( we sometimes just booked flights and found accommodation when we got there.  You want to go away for the weekend, you just go. You can go out for dinner when ever you want on a whim. Since Iris came along she put a huge strain on our relationship and we never thought it should be so hard. It does not matter how many people tell you that you will NEVER understand it until you have one. Sleeping 3 / 4 hours a night for a week, everyone being sick for a month because you keep passing it around. ( I hardly get sick). Then to top it off you need to make sure you have everything you need to go out because you never know what might happen. Now that she is crawling non stop and standing when ever she can, I know it won't be long until she walks and it will be the next step in her life. It makes me tear up to think how amazing she is and i love being with her everyday.

Thanks for reading.
